FINALLY, I managed to find a replica Thompson. My arsenal is complete! (Obtaining what is essentially a big plastic toy has been made surprisingly difficult in recent years, here on fair Blighty)
As you can see; I'm rather pleased
I should actually note, that; I don't have any interest in owning or firing a REAL weapon. Something about intentionally setting off what is, essentially, an explosion in your hand just seems.....dumb. I just use these things as props to refer to when drawing my comics.
That's a great toy. It has the advantage that you could probably take it to a party or a con' as part of a costume. I will confess that I own a real one; it's sitting here next to me. I am interested in the differences/similarities of our respective pieces. Not all of the details of yours are in the picture. Does yours have a Cutts compensator? Its very useful for reducing recoil rise. And do you have a full stock there under your arm, or is it cut down gangster style. Mine is a modern american repro so it is semi only, no full auto. I notice two major differences from mine and your picture. First, your bolt handle is on the side and mine is on top. That's not an error, some were made that way. Second, that little strut between the barrel and the fore grip isn't here. That's probably because yours is plastic and needs the extra reinforcement. I don't have a drum mag for mine. Before the 90's gun ban was lifted here, you could only buy an original 20's model and they actually cost more than the gun. Now I could buy a newly manufactured one for half the original cost of the gun, but I haven't gotten around to it. I make do with 30 round box mags. I'm an American and a gun fancier. I only shoot for fun and I don't consider myself a nut. Nevertheless, I have plenty of firearms and enjoy shooting them. I can fully understand that if you've never fired a gun in your life you might not see the attraction. Even if you have fired a gun you might not see the attraction. But there are a few people, like me, who enjoy shooting just for its own sake. You might even say it can give you a godly feeling. After reading that don't write me off as a nut unless you've tried it. Sorry if that's do big a read. If you would like to see my Thompson, I'd be glad to upload a picture. Thanks.
