Excellent work all around, tight inks and especially the architecture and the atmospheric effects of the steam in the bath.

artist question:

I really want to start making sequential art, I have both the writing and illustration skills, but I find drawing scenery and backgrounds to be difficult. Do you have any tips you could give to help me get my ideas of the ground?

Reference photos!
I used shots of Istanbul for these BB pages. Not to copy, but to study and gain an understanding of the type of environment I was trying to render.
Do the same!

Do you do your backgrounds and character art in the same frame at once or do you do them separately and layer them? I remember Piro of Megatokyo had to alternate between the two sometimes because of his architectural drawing experience.

I have backgrounds and foregrounds on different layers, regardless of them being character or scenery.
This is because I usually add a little haze over backgrounds to make the foregrounds pop, and doing everything on the same layer would be a chore.

For some reason I'm feeling the Tailspin version of Shere Khan would really enjoy this universe you've built.
