Dude, the right hand is for offensive magic, and the left hand is for defensive magic (in and out chi). Besides, the gun would probably run out of ammo before the man runs out of magic given that the magic regenerates.

...ah...at some point I will actually have to READ Hellboy. Loved the movies, but I couldn’t get through book 1 of the comics. Mignola just can’t write good story. *shrug*
