If you've not heard: thugs and looters have taken to the streets in a few cities across Fair Blighty these past couple of days.

It makes my blood boil on two fronts.

First: We have the tabloid-reading public, who harp on and on about an oppressive police presence. They piss and moan about CCTV cameras and whine that the authorities are trying to control them, and so the government backs off, cuts budgets and ties hands with bureaucracy.
And then, when the riots kick off? The public blame the authorities for not doing enough.

Second: you have THIS kind of mentality running through the mob: [link]

The riots began as a result of a gang member being shot by police (which does tend to happen when you carry and discharge illegal firearms in London). The incident is still being investigated.

Indeed.

Because when someone is outraged that the incompetence of politicians in spending money that never existed, thus destroying the global economy for 1-3 decades...

It's best to vent that outrage by burning down innocent people's businesses and stores.


I heard that some of them were claiming that the idiocy was because they were raising the cost for college.

It's a pity they've done away with the Penal Legions.

Nowadays cannonfodder no longer gets sent out to die, but obtain degrees to become school teachers or politicians/reporters.

wes americans is more civilized then those...ok forget the stupid voice ironically trying to sound smart, we have the same thing here most likely, but it's not covered as much on the news as far as i know

but i do like what was done there, you want less police? fine, don't come cryin when people start dyin

here the police wouldn't try such a stunt, nor would they here a smart person for some reason, that was a real court case over here, someone took the police tests and they declined him the job because he was too smart

I just stay away from people like that when I can. Really, it saves a lot of energy.
