This morning I was woken at 4am by what sounded like a door being kicked in (though, at that hour: a book falling to the floor sounds like an A-Bomb detonation).
Not quite sure what I must have looked like as I searched the house while wearing a dressing gown and carrying a rapier (which any Englishman worth his salt SHOULD keep in his bedroom), and I did feel like a prat when it turned out nothing was amiss.

Still have no idea what caused the noise. Must have been from the neighbour’s.

lol done that, gone sliding out my door like a ninja, katana in hand and just about scared the bejeezus out of my family, turned out the cat knocked over things on the shelf trying to find a place to sleep DX.

I'm Australian and I might have a child size aluminium baseball bat and a rather large torch.

Better to be armed with a pointy than not at all, but how one would explain scewering a bad guy to the law I do wonder.
Ha. In Australia we'd call that use of excessive force and it is against the law.

So if a bad guy breaks in, and I break the bad guy, he is in trouble for break and enter and I'm in trouble for assault.
Sheesh.

Sounds pretty rubbish NerveZero. Sucks that you cant protect yourself in your own home without worrying about getting in trouble for it :/

They've changed the law here. If there's an intruder, you can.....deal with them....

Personally my preference is the all mighty Cliamh Mór (Claymore, a type of two handed sword wielded by the celts), but to each his own.( I also sleep with a knife under the pillow, 3 daggers taped to the bottom of the bed and a full set of leather armour nearby. And they call paranoia a problem.)

I have done similar with my broadsword. Now it is Broadsword on one hand and 12 gauge in the other. One for short range the other to make sure they stay out of short range. Rock salt hurts like the dickens at close range.
