I enjoyed the Nolanverse Batman films a lot, but I've just run the numbers:
Bruce trained for 7 years (Alfred mentions his absence in Batman Begins) and he sulked for 8 years between Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises. Between that, and including the short time in Dark Knight Rises in which he wore the cowl, Nolanverse Bruce was only Batman for about a year, tops (Joker's line "Let's rewind a year" tells us this).

One. F**king. Year.

"Caped Crusader" the Nolanverse Batman is not.

He is "Bat Temp".

This is why I say now and always -- the Adam West Batman is the MOST accurate and faithful live-action adaptation of the character.

Nolanverse Batman is just a poor attempt at imitating Clint Eastwood from Heartbreak Ridge.

I will give credit to Heath Ledger (RIP) as I thought his performance as "Joker" was actually rather good. I do not like the ridiculous remake version of Joker. I thought the whole story was lacking, completely limp and left nothing explained about Joker. All the while they're building up Harvey Dent/"Two Face" in which he's getting full character development in about ten minute's time Nolan style.

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to things like this. Who didn't like Jack Nicholson as The Joker? He nailed a classic character pretty well. Hell, even Mark Hamill's Joker voice is pretty damn good. Heath Ledger unfortunately, was not "The Joker" in my opinion.

Tom Hardy wasn't Bane, nor was Jeep Swensen in the George Clooney catastrophe that was a Batman movie.

There was no reason to screw with what's already known of the classic Batman characters and their history. The formula is already there, all you have to do is make a few tweaks here and there, do some modern special effects and voila.

To be honest....I think that DC should just make big budget animated Superhero movies. Batman the Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond, Superman The Animated Series and the DC Video games are all wildly popular. I think that is because they have the perfect voice talent. Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tim Daly as Superman, Mark Hamill as Joker and a few other key voice actors really made those shows. Now combine the voice talent with more money tossed at CGI characters than say Arkham Asylum....imagine what a kick ass movie they'd have? Marvel wouldn't be spanking DC at the box office for long.

Yeah I never saw that Batman as "BatMan"  The Batman from the Animated series THAT was Batman.  Justice League Unlimited, THAT was Batman.  Arkham Asylum and City, THAT is Batman!

At least the Joker from those films was The Joker.

Don't even get me started on the Batmobile in that movie >A<

"Bat Hummer" has a definite ring to it.  Although, most people might think that was a booty call to Selina.

Which only confirms what I believe of Nolan, in that he doesn't even like Batman or comics and only did the trilogy for the money and experience.

Think of it this way. In one year of being Batman, Bruce was able to stop an entire terrorist organization and their attack on Gotham, defeat and outsmart a homicidal maniac along with a key player in his plan, and through sacrifice of his image play a major role in creating a law that stopped all organized crime for the next 8 years. IN ONE YEAR. Then he comes back and stops yet ANOTHER brilliant terrorist attempt.
This just makes the Nolanverse Batman MORE badass.

this is because Nolan forgot one of Batman's most iconic character traits, he never gives up!  Hell in the cartoon series he stayed batman until he was almost 60 and only FORCED himself to retire when he became desperate enough to grab a gun to defend himself.  I think canonically Batman first put on the cowl at the age of 22 or 23 so he had a respectable run of nearly 40 years as a superhero.

That's actually what he's pointing out via Joker's line.
Batman Begins -> Dark Knight, approximately 1 year passes "in-universe," as described by the Joker's quip "Let's rewind a year" - that is, turn the dial back one year and "the Batman" didn't exist in Gotham.

So no, he didn't forget, he was saying that was about the extent of Wayne's stint as Batman.

Well I am saying there was a 2 year gap between the first and second movies. not 12 months, but 24 of them. And Joker's line is more in line with that it took Batman a full year for the criminal underworld of gotham to really start to fear him, and for the police to gain a real foot hold against it all.

Yeah, Bale was not really the best Batman. He was an ace Bruce Wayne though. I hope the successor pulls off both sides of the character equally. He'll be an older Batman doing a DKR thing if rumours are true.
