I love Team Fortress 2, especially the visual style, so when they started releasing toys of the characters, I had to start a collection.
I had planned to nab the whole team, but I may reconsider in light of THIS:

What happened? Well, I dared try to bend the thing's knee to put it in a pose where it could stand freely, as I had done with the Pyro figure I bought earlier, and the Heavy. Nary an ounce of pressure was applied and SNAP.
It was intended to bend, I can see that from the exposed hinge, but the thing's made from such cheap plastic, and the hinge's connecting "pin" so thin, that it couldn't take anyone touching it.
Not sure what to do about this. Can't really send it back to the vendor I bought it from as it was in perfect condition on purchase.

Hey, Valve? You out there? Is your console going to be this sturdy?

Glad I'm not the only one. My Soldier action fig has his left leg a bit bent with the plastic. God, Valve.

You can buy them. Just don't try to move their limbs....or try to put the weapons in their hands.....basically, don't touch them at all.

It seems to be the Achilles's heel (no pun intended) of the NECA TF2 line to be riddled with joint issues. Either they are too loose, too tight, or snap off under minimal exertion. You could repair the joint by drilling into the area the peg broke off, glue in a dowel; Then after fishing out the broken bit with a pair of needle nose pliers, stick the dowel end in and presto! the joint will bend and be poseable.

It shouldn't matter if it was in perfect condition on purchase, what matter's that it wasn't suited for it's intended purpose(s). That's a written law in the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). Just take it back dude.

It could be a fluke.  Quality control on plastic is often dicey.  I think you just happen to get that one made from a bad batch.

I think your beef would be more with the Toy Co NECA then with Valve. I hear tell that this can sometimes be a thing with their figures dew to dried paint gumming up the joints. I've heard of it happing before with all sorts of toys. The Ironman 2 line apparently had it happen a lot.

I really hope better quality figures are made after all of this breakage is finally noticed and taken better care of. I don't want the Scout figure to be released with the sturdiness of wet paper.

o3o Are you sure? The one you have is 2 shades of red on the clothes (the amazon one is a consistent shade of red and doesn't have the blemishes your's has) and the amazon one has larger bolts on the ankles (your's does not), there looks to be more detail to the face in the amazon one, and a bendable joint on the chest (that's harder to see in your picture).
The amazon one is also called a 7" Deluxe Action Figure, and I don't know how big your's is.

P.S, the boots on this one are light brown with a badly painted brown strip that ends before the ankle joint. The amazon one is more of a greenish brown with a dark chocolate brown leather coloured strip that actually goes into the joint.

Is it possible to try and find the same characters made by a Japanese company?
Some of the anime figurines and possible action figures look like they are better quality and they have amazing detail on them too.

In my experience all video game figures are cheap for some reason, they think the nerds won't complain. I've got a Kratos with two missing hands and his leg fell off.

My brother got a Pyro from MCM earlier this year, the thing's joints are so incredibly stiff with barely any room to bend them that it's kind of difficult to put it in any pose beyond "standing normally with arms slightly forwards while awkwardly holding flamethrower".

Well, that's too bad.  I have the 1/18 scale Gears of War figures by this same company (NECA), and they're built like tanks.  Defects happen; hopefully NECA will take care of it.

I feel your pain ,man! i once bought a HIGHLY ARTICULATED kenshiro, fist of the north star action figure for my collection,

I go to pose it, the damn thing SNAPS IN HALF AT THE FRIGGIN' WAIST, where mind you he had a poseable waist for martial;-arts
action!! when he snapped in half, I said "screw it!!" and krazy glued him back together, and since i don't play with the figures in my
collection, he stands on my top shelf UNDISTURBED to this day.

Not the first i've seen this happen to. By all reports, you have to soak the legs in hot water to help free up the joints, sadly.

I've got 6 of these figures (both red and blu versions of Pyro and Demo) and had very little trouble with them outside of some balancing difficulty and some paint peeling on the joints.  I know you enjoy the attention that complaints like this get you, but I'm also convinced that you're intelligent enough to know that defects happen, and that you CAN return defective merch to the manufacturer (who you know full well is NECA, not Valve, so consider your console crack to be faulty logic).  If you explain the problem and mail them the defective figure, I'm reasonably certain they'll send you a replacement.
