An enjoyable enough flick that was actually free of quite a few of the usual Burton hallmarks (not a black and white stripe in sight!), but it felt more of a tribute than it should have to the long forgotten series on which it was based.
There are a few real "What the?" moments near the end which are no doubt nods to the source material, of which Burton and Depp are huge fans, but which are completely lost on the rest of us.
(Was lycanthropy mentioned earlier in the film? If it was; I missed it! - That's no spoiler BTW. It has NO relevance to the rest of the film which is what makes its inclusion so baffling.)

It's also the first film in which Eva Green actually looks like the bombshell everyone's been claiming her to be since Casino Royale.

It was pretty good. Great cast, nice soundtrack, Alice Cooper...

Could have done with another ten minutes, I think. The ending felt awfully rushed.
And I've never seen a character, let alone the important love interest, turn from fairly interesting to flat in such a way Victoria did! What gives!?

I first saw the trailer for this movie when I went to watch "The Avengers".
Already I find it more imaginative and clever than "Twilight".

Long-forgotten by whom?

I kind of wish I had forgotten it. Maybe seeing the trailer wouldn't have hurt my head so much.

Yeah they mentioned werewolves very very briefly early on.

It seems to me that when Depp plays an original character, the films do great at the box office. It's when he does his take on an established character that the box flounders.

I just watched it today <3 I really loved it ^_^ I was excited to see Helena as well. Unfortunately I have never seen the show it was based off of but I've never been a fan of soap operas. Yeah the werewolf thing surprised me too XD but I'm sure it turned up somewhere in the original show and was just a bonus that original watchers would have guessed early, since I didn't see any hints about it (but then again I'm kinda slow so I wouldn't have noticed).

Odds are, the exposition for the werewolf reveal was probably set up in the original cut, so maybe I should wait for the "Director's Cut" release on DVD/Blu to get it put back in. More than one movie recently has made me say "There was more to that scene... what got cut?"
