Last year we had Russia railing against Halloween, this year we have Pakistan condemning Valentine’s Day.

Western popular culture must be seen as rather invasive in parts of the world governed more by religion than common sense. Referring to Valentine’s Day as a "festival of obscenity" is rather missing the point, but when there are mobs in Karachi toting banners reading “No Love”, it would hardly be worth explaining the point.
If we are, indeed, locked in some sort of “culture war”, the West is clearly the more appealing side.
Keep that in mind the next time you get in a twist over terrorism: We’re winning.

True followers of a peaceful religion are tolerant of sin and even engage in it from time to time. They recognize the sins and repent for them. They do not force others to observe this atonement, though they may encourage others to. In essence, running from sin is pointless. All it does is make you tired... and look like a douche.
