Skyrim - First ImpressionsPicked up a cheapo copy of Skyrim today. First impressions: this game is so inside the box, it's inside a smaller box.
Tolkien was, undeniably, a genius, but, for the love of creativity and dynamism; read another f**king book, people.
There's a world of culture, history and myth out there to seek inspiration from! Fantasy should be an exciting, twisted reflection of the world around us, not an endless stream of pirated Lord of the Rings DVDs.

Doomsday....sorry; you missed it.Since the concept of the Leap Year was first implemented back in 45BC, there have been about 514 of them.
Without the extra day every 4 years, we would be in 2013.
As the Mayan Calendar doesn't take leap years into account; 2012 has been and gone.

"Everyone is kind of freaking out right now because of the Gary Friedrich case. Long story short, the guy who created Ghost Rider in 1972 sued Marvel, claiming that they never filed a copyright for his work and therefore he still owns Ghost Rider. Courts said "sit down before you fall down" and in addition slapped the guy with a $17,000 fine for selling tee shirts and posters featuring Mike Ploog Ghost Rider art at conventions.
People are considering this a warning salvo at artists who do sketches of Marvel and DC owned characters at

Teenage Alien Ninja TurtlesI've just learned that filmmaker Michael Bay (aka - Uwe-Boll-With-A-Budget) has turned his withering gaze upon the Heroes in a Half-Shell, and has set about mutilating the franchise by informing us that their origin will change in his upcoming (oh god; if I have to refer to another film as this I may start weeping blood) reboot.
Y'know in the Disney animation Bolt where the idiot pigeons give a one-word pitch at how to "improve" the series that the titular doggie has absconded from? It's a dig at crappy writers that have no idea how to come up with an original idea and so just shoehorn in absurd new story elements to an existing tale.

Oh, not again....Argentina is getting frisky over the Falklands again. I've no idea if it's just political bluster; a box for the Argentinean leadership to stand upon and rant about so that they can look strong in front of their people, or if the oil reserves in Falkland waters are providing motivation for renewed claims.

Will GTA 5 be any good?It certainly looks pretty, but I just can't seem to get excited about it.
Why?
Well; the last GTA game that I played from start to finish……was GTA.
That's; the original.
I never played GTA 2 or 3, I got stuck on the bank heist mission in Vice City, and then my save got corrupted and I never went back to it, the city-wide riot in San Andreas was so much of a chore that I just gave up and GTA 4 was such unplayable sh*t that I now use the disc as a coaster.
I'm hoping….praying….that Rockstar will imbue the title with the same explorative fun that existed in Red Dead Redemption, and make traversing the game world by car (or plane or scooter or tank) as much a delight as it was on horseback.
Better yet; I'm hoping that they've taken a leaf out of Bethesda's book and made the game world more than just a façade, populated by characters that exist outside of the main story arc.

Peddling PreliminariesBack in the old days, before I started working 99% of the time on a Cintiq, my method of producing an image was a little more complex.
First; I would draw a pencil sketch. This would then be scanned into photoshop and turned into a "blue-line" image. That would then be printed out. Inks would be drawn over the top of the blue linework and it would then be rescanned using settings that would erase the blue, leaving only the crisp black of the inks.
As a result of this method, I usually have two versions of each of my old works; the final inks and the preliminary sketch.
While I would like to archive ALL my work, I don't have the space, and am going to begin culling the latter.
Rather than simply toss it, however; I'm going to start posting pieces on ebay that may be of interest to fans.

You forgot to mention how your heirs to the throne are in active military duty. I don't know if it should or not, but that surprises me in this day and age (meaning a time when communications have advanced to where rulers don't have to be on the field to give orders.) The three most recent presidents have all had (mostly minor-aged) daughters while in office, but I can't see presidential daughters or sons being allowed to actively serve anymore. We'd never get the paparazzi to stop leaking military secrets in pursuit of exclusive photos. So, princes who can fly jets and rain death from above? Much more potent than debutantes drinking while underaged or deciding which college to attend with a Secret Service detail in tow, and kind of feeds back into that whole 'supervillain' thing.
