I'm starting to think that some people watch Top Gear with the sole intention of being offended:

It's playground-level nonsense the presenters spout and people keep getting up in arms about it.
With the number of petty complaints* that have been levelled at the show you'd think that anyone of a hyper-sensitive nature would change channel as soon as they heard the theme tune.

*uh, well.....aside from those that have led to a strain on diplomatic relations between the UK and Mexico.....and India.....and Botswana........Vietnam, Turkey, Bolivia, Israel, Jordan, Albania and certain southern states of the USA.

Oh get the sticks out of your arse people. This crap is asburd. Seriously you would think people would learn by now that Top Gear.... UGH people today are so senstive. I personally see nothing wrong with what Jezza did. Mostly because I know its a sodding joke. For the sake of the gods this is a show that made a 2 story Citroen Camper van and then pushed it off of a cliff! Just.... *groans* Fucking people.

Alas, there's a fine line between saying something is inconvenient and something is scary.

Clarkson makes his business being on the wrong side of that line, but not actually going about stamping on people who aren't part of the game.

Who knows how they'll apologize for this one?

In all honesty, this is why you gotta be careful what you say in the media...people shall bitch.

When are people going to learn to stop taking top gear so bleeding serious. they make jokes. they make fun of themselves just as much, if not more, than other people.

not even 200 complaints on the topic? that's laughable at best considering the number of people who tune in to watch the program.

ha.

Yeah it really is annoying. And as for your "*" there, I have this to say: I was born and raised in the southern U.S. and I saw the episode that apparently strained relations between the UK and a few southern states...and, frankly, it was ridiculous. The people they encountered in that rather horrific incident are what makes southerners look bad! Sadly, stereotypes are there for a reason: because they're true...and sadly they're the vocal minority.

I'm not much on automobiles, so I don't really watch the show. That being said, I've seen a few episodes and I don't understand why people can soso blasted stupid about. They're having fun, and not completely serious. Some folks need to just learn that if you see something you don't find interesting, just stop watching it.

Some people just aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about.

How did they strain relations with Bolivia? Apart from their claim that it's close to the Equator, which is the kind of geographic ignorance one expects from an American, I'm not sure how they offended the Bolivians. Or the Vietnamese for that matter; then again, I probably haven't seen the Vietnam special in its entirety.

OTOH, you did forget Romania...
