That's right; i'm one of the few artists here on DA that seems content with my name. That; and I think changing a "brand" simply because you can, after you've spent time and energy building up an audience is f**king stupid.
I've been here for years. I've operated on the internet under "jollyjack" for longer. If I changed that now it would be monumentally confusing to people that follow my work, which, in turn, would have an effect on revenue.
There are a ton of artists here whose work I keenly follow, and I think they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.
Kinda reminds be of those little label-making things everyone's been given on at least one Christmas as a kid: you unwrap it, you find out what it does and you spend the rest of the day punching out new tags for everything. Even if they'

As the Mayan Calendar doesn't take leap years into account; 2012 has been and gone.

I actually do support this idea to go for a new production with a studio. I was getting worried that they would runt he character into the ground and I'm rather pleased they retired the character and will do a new show, it adds variety and makes something different. While we'll all miss seeing the weekly video shows of the NC screaming for 20 minutes, I totally support Doug's decision to do something new and regardless, he left a huge impact on internet culture that will never be reversed.

I usually try to be more diplomatic, but sometimes my inner Snape just can't be contained.
Here is the reality of the situation. A person who is building a set of skills can improve without feedback of any kind. Through trial and error, a human being can identify their own mistakes and, with honest work, rectify those mistakes. To say that this is not possible is so counter to reality as to be absurd. It looks like the original point of the bill is to stop piracy and uploading illegal copies of videos or music or whatever. That part, I don't so much have a problem with. Piracy is a big problem on the internet, and people have to figure out how to address it somehow. Honestly, I think people in the 'real world' have been damned stupid for underestimating internet subculture for so long. They should've learned how to work with the internet years ago, instead of raging against it. You snooze, you lose.
But this? This is ridiculous. This is a serious breach of freedom of speech and privacy. There's plenty of intellectual property on the internet that might not have a copyright slapped on it but does belong to people. There's plenty of things people do freely

Paramount has shut down pre-production on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot over "script problems".
Translation; Paramount realised that if they continued down the path Bay was going, fans would probably burn their studios to the ground.
With luck (and a dollop of common sense) the project will be shelved altogether and the IP left fallow until competent directors/producers are brought on board.

Man, I was on the verge of putting Bay above Lucas in terms of hate, but it seems that has been avoided thankfully. (Bay still f-ked up Transformers forever because of Transformers 2 and nothing will ever erase that)
